Goes Well With Coffee: Elad Lassry

Thursday sounds like:
The Cure - Just Like Heaven

1. Untitled (Man, Strainer), 2013 / 2. Untitled (Red Cabbage 1), 2008
3. Woman (Camera), 2010
4. Chilean Flamingo, 2007 / 5.Untitled (Boot), 2013
6. Woman, Man, 2010
7. Untitled (Strawberry, Kids), 2013 / 8. Untitled (Poles), 2010

Good morning! Hope it's a good one! :)

I feel intrigued, lied to, confused and yet mesmerized by Elad Lassry's work.
It makes me feel a little bit claustrophobic because everything is within boxes and frames.
But that pleated silk, bright colours, hidden action, collages, vintage photos mixed with his own artwork makes me feel a little bit like I'm reading a story as well. Story that nobody but Elad Lassry knows. And it continues.
Lassry is a visual artist who lives in Los Angeles and is represented by White Cube in London.
See more of his work here or attend first possible Frieze Art Fair. That's exactly where not that long ago I had a chance to discover this and many more outstanding artists.

Oh wow. That's a lot of words for a cup of coffee, right? Gee, so emotional women can be...
No, but seriously, it's beautiful.

Have a nice day.
Kisses,
Karolion.

Some Spring Counting

While I wear my sunglasses I listen to:
Andy Jay and S-Tee ft. Charlene - Spiralling (L Phonix and Yllavation Remix)

Peer Kusiv - Let Her Go

Midi Matilda - Day Dreams (MyKill Remix)

'But you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go'

- Let Her Go

Let's do some exciting Spring 2013 counting:

1. We celebrated Jennifer's birthday. She's 21 now! We went to Namco (to be honest, thought I'll hate it but it was so much fun) and to GBK for dinner. Do recommend trying Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
2. First successful online shopping experience.
3. One shop is now providing me with girly and feminine books daily. So, I'mma read, I'mma read, I'mma read. I'mma take that... (okay, if you don't know how this goes you should listen to this).
4. Finally started my FOUND notebook with a beautiful drawing by my friend Domile on it. I'll try to list my beautiful discoveries daily in order to not forget them.
5. It's getting warm in London. We're talking leather jackets, sunglasses and colourful nails here.

Have a good Thursday - almost Friday day ;)
Hugs and London kisses,
Karolion.

Bedtime story - A Little Bit of Champagne Now and Then is a Good Thing

A little bit of champagne now and then is a good thing.

To be honest, being a little bit more honest after having a little bit of champagne, I recently had a very lovely experience on Great Russel Street, London.
So me and E decided to celebrate her visit last Thursday.
We bought some champagne, macaroons and sat in Covent Garden watching all the charming people.
Then E suggested we go shopping. A girl never says no to a new something, even if that's the smallest thing you could find in London.
Knowing how strict all stores are with drinks and food inside, we got to Great Russel Street before our shopping spree to finish our opened champagne bottle.
The day was great. People were smiling and the weather was nice enough to let me wear a dress. But I wasn't feeling excited. To explain how I felt, I'll quote one of my bright friends. 'You know how you feel good and positive but not as happy so you could cry out of happiness? I don't feel like that very often.' So I was feeling exactly like that - comfortable, positive but not like I had my finger tips crossing the sky.
Whilst standing there and chatting, drinking champagne, people were walking by, thinking about what work to do, books to read, lunch to have etc.
I saw one man wearing a suit, sunglasses, long coat. He seemed confident and charming but deep in his thoughts, not paying too much attention to the world around him.
So my mind and champagne's collaboration led me whispering to E:
'Woooooooah, look how perfect he is!'
E just looked, nodded and looked away.
Then, when he was already a few steps away from us, he looked back, looked me in the eyes and smiled.
I smiled back.
That smile, I know, and I just knew, there was something that made me feel happy.
At least for that time, that moment.
Hope it made him feel the same.

So,
A little bit of champagne now and then it is a good thing.

Nighty night, my sparks.
xo,
Karolion.

ATM: Thursday

1. My friend is visiting, so we went shopping. First stop - Kurt Geiger.
2. I found just perfect summer/spring 2013 shades. Just like that. Yes. Precious.
3.We went to see Besureis, got them some absolutely beautiful flowers and had an amazing evening with them.
4.Then after our long walk home Eva was like: 'well, hell, I'm hungry!' Tried to explain that nothing is open here at this time but then Wasabi proved me wrong.

Off to chat, sleep and then chat and sleep some more.
Kisses and sushis and monkeys and tulips!
xo, Karolion.

Must Visit - A Bigger Splash

Hello!

Finally finished my work week at uni. One of the most productive weeks so far, topped with a quote of a guest lecture Daryoush Haj-Najafi: "I'm at the club and the only person I know is Karl Lagerfeld."

So to finish such an inspiring and creative work week as a "Must..." I'm sharing with you a must visit exhibition. A Bigger Splash: Painting after Performance will be on display from November 14th until 2013 April first in Tate Modern museum, London.

To get the idea of what I'm talking about, my suggestion is to watch a movie A Biger Splah by Jack Hazan. It tells story of a famous artist David Hockney, who is a huge part of this upcoming exhibition.

So have a glass of wine, slice of a nice cheese and enjoy art.

Nighty night,
KaroLion.
